Olivia Wilde Plays Down's Syndrome Woman In Tear-Jerking Video
If public service announcements had a category at the Oscars, this would be a shoo-in.
Made to coincide with World Down Syndrome Day, which happens in March 21, it stars ‘House’s Olivia Wilde.
- Olivia Wilde was ‘too old’ for Wolf of Wall Street
- Daisy Ridley’s hilarious fan letter
- Jennifer Garner reveals Oscar wardrobe malfunction
She plays a woman leading an utterly normal life as 'a daughter, a sister, a best friend’, working, doing laundry, partying, camping, running.
As the film, directed by Reed Morano and created by CoorDown Onlus – (coordinator of Italian Associations of people with Down’s Syndrome) – ends, Wilde looks in the mirror as it emerges the subject is a woman with Down’s Syndrome.
“This is how I see myself,” says the voiceover, “How do you see me?”
It’s a brilliantly powerful short.
A statement from the organisation reads: “Let’s change the way we look at people with Down syndrome.
“AnnaRose is a nineteen year old from NJ. She’s a full time college student who works part-time at a physical therapy center and enjoys basketball and swimming through the Special Olympics NJ.
“AnnaRose, as many people with Down syndrome, only wants to realize her potential and live a meaningful, beautiful life.”
