For more than 10 years, the kids from TLC's Kate Plus 8 (formerly Jon and Kate Plus 8) felt like an extension of own family. Although the show was canceled last year, Kate has shared her kids' birthday celebrations, back to school pictures, and adorable at-home moments on Instagram. And just this week while Kate announced her new reality show (!), we caught a glimpse of her two oldest daughters - and it's safe to say that they're not little kids anymore.
Her eldest twins - Cara and Madlyn (or Mady) - turned 18 back in October, which means they are, for all intents and purposes, adults now. The sextuplets, including daughters Hannah, Leah, and Alexis, are 14 and currently in eighth grade.
"As far as Mady and Cara, particularly - and all the kids - I think that they're such good girls that I don't have to keep after them," Kate gushed at the Discovery Communications Winter 2019 TCA Tour on Tuesday, with her two girls by her side. "They're self-driven. They have goals and dreams, and they're just good kids."
That's why Kate admits that she doesn't "have to worry" about them going off to college next year. Until then, she's soaking up every moment that they have together - including on Kate Plus Date, her new show on TLC that premieres in June.
Now that her kids are growing up and moving out, this show documents Kate, a 40-something mom, as she tries to find a new beau. Mady and Cara couldn't be more excited for their mom: “We’ve been nudging her to date for years,” Mady said. “She deserves to be happy. Everyone deserves to be happy.”
Kate famously split from husband Jon Gosselin in 2009 at the height of their reality show fame. As a part of the divorce agreement, Kate was granted ownership of the family home and primary custody of the children - Mady, Cara, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel.
