Fact: a fried egg can make or break Sunday morning.

Whether you plan to devour the golden yolk as part of a full English breakfast or intend to place your masterpiece atop a mountain of crushed avocado and toast – nothing is more important than achieving Insta-worthy perfection in the kitchen.

And MasterChef UK finalists Billy Wright and Jack Layer, have revealed the ultimate fail-proof way to cooking the kind of fried egg brunch enthusiasts can only dream about.

The duo revealed to The Mirror: “The trick is loads of spitting hot oil, rapeseed or vegetable oil ideally, which is hot enough that the egg has to crackle when it goes in and enough to cover the pan.”

And then comes the crucial part. Pens at the ready, people.

“To get a perfect top, spoon oil over the top yes, but you can also put a lid on the frying pan and the heat and steam will seal the top, with a perfect yolk but none of the undercooked white,” Billy and Jack added.

So there you have it. Who knew such a simple trick could help even the most inexperienced achieve fried egg perfection?
