Paul Smith, Tim Coppens Guest Designers at Pitti Uomo 91

MILANPaul Smith will be the special guest of the upcoming edition of international men’s wear trade show Pitti Immagine Uomo, running in Florence from Jan. 10 to 13.

The British designer will organize a fashion installation to unveil the latest collections for his PS by Paul Smith men’s and women’s contemporary line.

Pitti Uomo 91 chose Belgian Tim Coppens, who is based in New York, as its men’s wear guest designer. Coppens, who was among the finalists of the LVMH Prize in 2014 and who made a name for himself with a lineup focused on luxury sportswear, will present for the first time his fall-winter 2017 men’s collection in Florence.

In addition, Venetian high-end label Golden Goose Deluxe Brand will celebrate at Florence’s Leopolda Station the 10th anniversary of its signature sneaker, while Reebok will unveil a capsule collection realized in collaboration with Cottweiler, the British men’s brand founded by Ben Cottrell and Matthew Dainty.

“The special events program of the next Pitti Uomo represents for us a further step toward the abolition of the duality between trade show and fashion week and toward the discovery of new formats, combining stylistic research, communication and commercial market attention,” said Lapo Cianchi, Pitti Immagine communication and special event director.

“This first lineup of events — focused on the new frontiers of fashion, sportswear and athleisure, a strong theme of contemporary fashion and lifestyle — will be enlarged with the addition of other guests and special projects to be announced soon which will show different worlds of men’s wear, also in geographic terms, including new talents and major traditional brands projecting toward the future,” he added.
