Only a few hours have passed since Beyoncé debuted her adorable newborn twins on Instagram, but that was just enough time for the body-shaming police to strike.

Sir Carter and Rumi, one month today,” Beyoncé captioned the now-viral image with 8.4 million likes on Friday morning. In the photo, Beyonce wears a floral dress with a blue veil and is standing in front of an altar adorned with roses.

The superstar also posted two more photos of herself wearing a white, low-cut top and a light pink miniskirt, this time posing with husband Jay-Z.

The reaction on Twitter ranged from shock and envy to disdain.

One woman, ABC News correspondent Mara Schiavocampo, even vented her frustration with Bey’s “deceptive” figure on Facebook, writing in part, “You all know how much I love Beyoncé. But I found that photo with her twins to be really disappointing. NO ONE looks like that a month after having a baby, let alone TWO, in their mid-30s no less. Totally flat tummy…not a wrinkle or sag or stretch mark in sight. Those images are so damaging to regular women who have a baby and think, ‘what’s wrong with me?'”

Schiavocampo further clarified her self-described problem, writing, “Unless she’s a genetic outlier, she’s going to great lengths to deceive us about what her body looks like ONE MONTH after giving birth. It creates the expectation that you are supposed to ‘snap back’ effortlessly in just weeks. Why not wait three months…or six? Or post a picture not in your underwear?”

Other celebrities have suffered similar take-downs for their post-baby appearances, including Kate Middleton, Chrissy Teigen, and Irina Shayk.

As a celebrity, high-energy performer, and a person who says she is not “naturally very thin,” Beyoncé follows a strict exercise and nutrition regimen. After the birth of 5-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, she told an Atlantic City concert crowd, “Y’all have no idea how hard I worked! I had to lose 60 pounds. They had me on that treadmill. I ate lettuce!” She’s also dabbled in veganism, she avoids crash diets, and she balances healthy meals with pizza and In-N-Out burger splurges. Sounds normal, right?

And since Beyoncé has the time and resources to stage a photo shoot that the world is waiting on, it’s a safe bet that she’s going to look her best.

Whether or not Beyoncé has actually lost weight is unclear, since her entire body is draped in fabric. But that’s beside the point, says Jonathan Alpert, a Manhattan-based psychotherapist and author of Be Fearless.

“While celebrities are subject to scrutiny regarding any area of their lives, one can only create an expectation for a famous person if they’re searching for it,” Alpert tells Yahoo Beauty. “It’s no one’s place to offer commentary on a woman’s body, and it’s not Beyoncé’s responsibility to make sure everyone is at peace with her body.”

He adds, “All I see in this photo is a proud new mother holding her babies.”
