Restaurant owner stirs frenzy with ‘brutally honest’ job listing: ‘Tell it how it is’

A bar owner is going viral after sharing a “brutally honest” job listing on Facebook.

The post, which warned applicants that they’d be “working for an a**hole,” was shared on Facebook by Craig Harker, the general manager of The George Pub & Grill, a pub and restaurant located in Stockton-on-Tees, England.

Harker’s NSFW listing, which appeared on the eatery’s Facebook page, features descriptions for several open positions, all complete with their own candid requirements.

For example, one description warns against people with conversation skills “like a wet flannel” from applying.

“I don’t have the time or patience to teach someone how to be sociable just because you’ve played Call Of Duty for the last 10 years instead of having proper mates,” Harker added.

For all roles, Harker demanded that applicants arrive to work “clean, smart and presentable,” advising that they keep Tic Tacs on hand, because “if you feel your breath is a little tangy, then it probably is.”

“Don’t come to an interview with your chipped finger nails, scraggly hair and just been on a session red-eye,” he went on. “Come looking to impress me. If you come and your clothes are creased to bits then I wont be having your lazy a** anywhere behind my bar.”

Meanwhile, another section of the posting reminded job seekers to smile, noting that “the customer is NOT always right, but they do pay all of our wages.”

He also added some positivity, noting that, despite the rules, his pub staff does feel like “a little family.”

“You arent just an employee number to us,” Harker added.

The listing, which has now been shared more than 500 times, drew hundreds of comments — many from users who were impressed by Harker’s honesty.

“Fantastic advert, tell it how it is, no bs, good luck finding your future stars,” one user wrote.

“Best job advert I’ve seen,” another concluded.

Others were more critical though, claiming that the descriptions were unlikely to attract many applicants.

“Hope you pay well if you’re this fussy,” one commenter wrote.

It seems the stunt has been working, at least so far. Harker followed up in the comments to inform his fans that, thanks to the now-viral ad, he’s already filled several positions.
