Watch: Phil Collins shares health struggles with BBC Breakfast

Phil Collins has admitted he doesn’t drum anymore as he can “barely hold a stick” in one of his hands.

The Genesis star, 70, spoke out in an interview with BBC Breakfast, saying he would love to play but is no longer able to do so.

The star – who has faced health struggles in recent years – said he was “kind of physically challenged a bit”.

“So there are certain physical things that get in the way.”

The singer has had surgery on his back and suffers from “drop foot”, which means one foot drags. He has also suffered nerve damage and has been pictured using a cane and in a wheelchair.

Genesis are hitting the road for a reunion tour later this year, with Collins’ son Nicholas playing the drums.

The music star previously suggested that the tour was the band’s way of “putting it to bed”.

Discussing that on BBC Breakfast, he said: “Yes, well you know, you say things. I mean, we’re all men of our age and I think to some extent yeah, I think it probably is putting it to bed.

"I think, yeah, just generally for me, I don’t know if I want to go out on the road anymore.”
