Being away from your loved one can be tough, painful and lonely. But being away while going through your first pregnancy can be even more difficult.

That was the case for Nicole Bedwell, whose navy corpsman husband, Wesley, was deployed 7,000 miles away.

“A month after we found out I was pregnant, he deployed,” the 19-year-old, told InsideEdition. ”It’s our first baby. Luckily I had a really good pregnancy, but it definitely sucks.”

When Nicole wanted to take maternity photos, she wanted Wesley to be present in some way and hired Traci Fugitt of Traci Lynn Photography to work her magic.

She photographed the expectant Texas mom against a stunning field of bluebonnets with a framed portrait of Wesley, but she also had a different idea.

Using an image of Wesley overseas, Traci reunited the couple in one photo using Photoshop.

“I cried [when I saw the photo], both of our families cried,” Nicole said. “It’s been really emotional for me to have my husband gone my whole pregnancy, so the fact that Traci was able to include him in my maternity session was very emotional. We will never be having our first child again. He’s my family, so having him included touched my heart. It made me happy.”

However, in an unusual twist of events, the couple will actually be reunited soon.

Nicole developed hypertension and due to the now high-risk nature of the pregnancy, Wesley was allowed to return home in time to witness the birth of his firstborn.

“He gets to come home so that takes a lot of the pressure off,” Nicole said.
