If you needed further reason to love Canada's Prime Minister, his attendance at Toronto's Pride celebration this weekend reach almost too-good-to-be-true levels of greatness.

Firstly, he wore a pair of social justice, Ramandan-themed socks (which said 'Eid Mubarak'), simultaneously showing his support for the LGBTQ and Muslim community.

The PM wished the crowd a happy 'Pride Mubarak,' referring to Sunday's end-of-Ramadan celebrations.

Trudeau then decided to swap a truly great pair of socks for another equally brilliant choice: that of the rainbow print. He later high-fived a little girl dressed as Wonder Woman.

No, we can't either.

The PM later Tweeted 'Love is Love' and, well, we'd only just gotten over the puppet unicorn incident what the hell is he playing at?

At the event he announced that the government will introduce legislation to make it possible to erase the convictions for Canadians who were unjustly convicted of a crime for sexual activity with a same sex partner.

The government says the legislation – expected to be introduced later this year – will be another solid step towards acknowledging and addressing injustices faced by LGBTQ communities.

Trudeau explained: 'Our government believes in equality and equal treatment for all Canadians.'

'We will passionately defend the rights of all our citizens regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

'Homophobia, biphobia and transphobia are unacceptable. In Canada we've come a long way, but there is still work to be done, both here in Canada and around the world.'

In the wake of Donald Trump ending Barack Obama's eight-year tradition of LGBT Pride month celebrations by planning, er, nothing, it seems Trudeau is stepping forward as the world's new, and much-needed gay icon. Last week he toasted Pride Month by erecting multiple flags symbolizing gay and transgender rights above Parliament Hill and vowed to tackle the injustices faced by LGBT people.We'll leave you with this picture from the event which literally looks like something out of Enchanted:
