Piers Morgan labels Prince Andrew 'dim and entitled' over disastrous BBC interview

Piers Morgan has branded Prince Andrew “dim and entitled”, arguing it could be time for him to give up his royal title.

The Good Morning Britain host discussed Andrew’s recent disastrous interview with BBC Newsnight – in which he talked about his connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein – with a panel including Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell.

Morgan said: "This is very serious. Jeffrey Epstein may well turn out to be one of the worst paedophiles in American history, a man who systematically for decades traduced young underage girls into his various lairs to sexually abuse and rape them.

“That may well be what he turns out to historically be, and we have at the centre of his world Prince Andrew, one of the Queen’s sons, actively being his friend before, during and after a conviction for traducing a 14-year-old girl for prostitution.”

Talking about the Newsnight interview, Morgan said: "He came over so dim in that interview, and so entitled and arrogant.”

Burrell pointed out that Andrew has denied any wrongdoing, but Morgan blasted: “He’s involved to that extent. He gave his support to a convicted paedophile.”

The Duke of York has now stepped down from any public duties after various organisations decided to cut ties with him over the scandal.

Going on to discuss calls for Andrew to be stripped of his HRH title, Morgan cited examples of Princess Diana and Prince Andrew’s former wife Fergie having their royal titles taken away simply for getting divorced.

He argued: "If the Royal Family are willing to take an HRH away from Diana and ironically Fergie, just because you get divorced, what justification is there for Andrew maintaining the title and all the stuff that has to go with it?

"I mean, people have to bow and curtsy? At what point does that birthright get overturned? We don’t want to pay any deference to anybody who’s involved in a scandal like that.

"The stuff he’s admitted to is damning already. I mean, people say innocent until proven guilty, but he’s admitted to going to a convicted paedophile’s home for a four-day house party."
