Pink’s latest Instagram post is a reminder to fans that strong is and always will be beautiful.

In a new post to social media, the 40-year-old pop star shared a photo of herself wake surfing. The “So What” singer captioned the photo with a body positive message to her more than 7.9 million followers about her “thunder thighs.”

“I always wondered why God gave me thunder thighs,” she wrote. “It’s cause he knew I’d use them.”

Pink received thousands of comments from fans, who praised the mother-of-two for showing gratitude to her strong, healthy body.

“Love this! Our family has always talked about our ‘thunder thighs’,” one follower wrote. “I LOVE hearing it as positive! I constantly tell my daughter how strong she is [and[ how fit.”

“‘Thunder thighs’ was my unsolicited knick-name during school,” another wrote. “This post turns that negative into a positive.”

Pink, an avid gymnast and aerialist, has been a proponent of embracing and fuelling her body as she ages. In January, Pink tweeted, “Letter to self; Dear Me, you’re getting older. I see lines. Especially when you smile.Your nose is getting bigger. You look (and feel) weird as you get used to this new reality .But your nose looks like your kids, and your face wrinkles where you laugh. And yeah you idiot..u smoked [sic].”

Pink has spoken publicly about body image and being told she was “too masculine.” In 2017, during her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, the singer revealed her daughter, Willow, told her that she felt like “the ugliest girl in the world” and “a boy with long hair.” When the star asked her daughter what she thought she looked like, Willow said she thought she was beautiful.

“When people make fun of me, that’s what they use,” Pink replied. They say I look like a boy or I’m too masculine or I have too many opinions, my body is too strong... And I said to her, ‘Do you see me growing my hair?’ She said, ‘No, mama.’ I said, ‘Do you see me changing my body?’ ‘No, mama.’ ‘Do you see me changing the way I present myself to the world?’ ‘No, mama.’ ‘Do you see me selling out arenas all over the world?’ ‘Yes, Mama.’ ‘OK! So, baby girl. We don’t change. We take the gravel and the shell and we make a pearl. And we help other people to change so they can see more kinds of beauty.’"

Earlier this year, Pink and her 3-year-old son, Jameson, both contracted COVID-19. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, the singer said the experience was “the scariest” experience of her life and revealed she relied on an inhaler to breathe at night.

Now, months after the ordeal, it appears as though Pink is celebrating her body for being healthy and strong - thunder thighs and all.
