For many just marrieds, sharing pictures of their big day to social media is a sort of wedding right of passage, a chance to bask in the magic of the moment for a little bit longer. But one newlywed used posting snap shots of her in her wedding dress as an opportunity to share an empowering body positive message about being a plus-size bride. And people can’t get enough of it.

Fashion blogger and columnist Callie Thorpe first started her blog because she was looking for a space where she could “speak openly and honestly about my journey to self confidence.” She strongly believes that “women of all sizes should be able to enjoy fashion and shouldn’t have to wait to be a certain size to wear fashionable clothes.” So when, two weeks ago, Callie married the love of her life, Dan Hetherington, she took that sentiment a stage further by using it as an opportunity to sprinkle a bit of body-positive love.

Sharing an image of herself rocking a gorgeous fishtail, lace gown with beaded bodice, Callie sent a powerful message to brides to be everywhere about feeling the body-love on their big day.

“I never dreamed I would wear a dress like this, I used to think that I would never get married until I was thin,” she wrote. “There were even times I doubted myself thinking I would be too self conscious to wear it.

“But as you grow older and you surround yourself with the right people, you begin to realise that what you look like doesn’t really matter to those that love you. Dan has loved me at all different sizes and on the day of the wedding when I walked into the room he turned and teared as I walked towards him, he looked at me like I was magic.”

In sharing her inspiring post, Callie hopes her words will help brides-to-be to find their inner confidence on their big day.

“Plus size or not, do you not feel you have to change yourself or your size to be happy on your wedding day, your partner loves you for who you are, not just what you look like,” she said.

“You are deserving of happiness no matter what your size, and you will still be the most beautiful person in the room next to your love because you will be glowing with the love you have for each other.”

Since sharing earlier this week her empowering post has received almost 6K likes and hundreds of comments from people inspired by her words.

“Amazing words. I’m getting married next weekend and this has given me confidence to be proud of how I look,” wrote one bride-to-be.

“This caption had me in tears. Soooo many women feel that deserving love is based on how we look. Thank you for constantly reminding us that we are all deserving no matter what package we come in,” added another.

In concluding her inspiring post, Callie had an important reminder for her 98.8K followers that size has no bearing on love and happiness.

“The happy ending is for everyone,” she wrote. “So please, please let yourself have it.”
