It’s easy to leave the house in a rush with one cheek full of blush and the other cheek totally pale. Or a smoky eye that leaves more eyeshadow under the eye than on top. We’ve all done it.
While it might seem easier to wipe your face off and start all over again, a makeup mishap isn’t always a lost cause. Denee Noel, cosmetics sales manager at Holt Renfrew in Vancouver, shared some of her top tips on how to fix common makeup mistakes in no time.
Smoky eye too dark?
Use an eye blender brush dipped in a pressed powder and blend under the eye to dust away any fallout. Then move from the brow bone to the lash line and repeat. In between blending, clean the dry brush on a tissue. Use this technique a few times to quickly tidy up any stray eyeshadow flakes.
Blush gone ‘80s?
Apply a dime-sized amount of day cream to the palm of your hand. Massage the cream into your hands as if you are moisturizing your hands, just before the cream has absorbed, gently press the cream into the face and cheeks. The cream will soften the blush while hydrating and create a healthy glow. This will guarantee a gorgeously smooth, even colour on the cheeks.
Cat eye gone awry?
Apply a small amount of moisturizer to the back of your hand. Gently pick up a tiny amount of the cream on a lip brush. Place the lip brush flat against the eye at a 45 degree angle. Now flick the brush in a quick upward motion. Your cat eye should look precise and clean.
Mascara too clumpy?
Start by applying your mascara to the base of your lashes and gently wiggle the brush as you move the wand from the base of your lashes to the tips. Still more than you expected? Grab a generic mascara wand and brush out the lashes until you have the desired look.
