Avoid sugar. “Sugar is food for bugs; any virus and any bacteria thrive with sugar,” says naturopathic doctor Cameron McIntyre of North Vancouver’s Marine Drive Naturopathic Clinic. “That includes juice. If you look at the amount of glucose in juice, there’s a ton of it, and it can often exacerbate and prolong colds often.” Opt for water and herbal teas instead.
