Get hot. “Viruses don’t like high temperature, so a really, really hot shower or bath can be very helpful in burning the viral load off; that’s why our bodies throw a fever in the first place,” McIntyre says. “If you don’t have a fever and you want to help get your cold moving, the hottest bath or shower as you can stand goes a long way.” 

How to feel better when you’re getting over a cold

The common cold has a way of making you feel just plain awful: tired, headachy, congested, and generally wretched. Getting over one can sometimes seem to take forever.
