The Duchess of Sussex, who announced her pregnancy this morning, will not change her royal tour plans despite the zika risk. In addition to their visit to Australia, the couple will also travel to the Pacific Islands of Fiji and Tonga where mosquitoes are infected with the virus. Both countries are listed at "moderate risk".

However, the royals are said to have sought medical advice on the issue and are going ahead with their plans. The Duchess is currently in "good health" and is expecting her first child in spring 2019.

In Fiji, the Duchess will attend a morning tea at the British High Commissioner’s Residence, where they will showcase women's organisations which operate throughout the country - a subject that will no doubt appeal to Meghan who has long called herself a strong feminist.

The trip, which starts today and ends on 31st October, marks the couple's first major overseas tour, although they did visit Northern Ireland in March. They will tour Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga, largely focusing on "youth leadership, and projects being undertaken by young people to address the social, economic, and environmental challenges of the region", Kensington Palace said.
