President Trump refers to Charles as 'Prince of Whales,' Twitter mocking ensues
The Twitterverse had a whale of a time with a tweet from President Donald Trump that had a rather comical typo.
In a now-deleted tweet Thursday, seen by USA TODAY, the nation's leader recalled meeting with "the Prince of Whales." Of course, he was referring to Queen Elizabeth II's son, Charles, Prince of Wales.
The president's tweet was corrected and posted again to the social media site, but that didn't keep a wave of reaction posts from washing upon the Twitter shore. Prince of Whales, which became a trending topic on the site, had more than 14,000 tweets before 10 a.m. ET.

I meet and talk to “foreign governments” every day. I just met with the Queen of England (U.K.), the Prince of Wales, the P.M. of the United Kingdom, the P.M. of Ireland, the President of France and the President of Poland. We talked about “Everything!” Should I immediately....

Some were tickled.
"It’s so (expletive) delightful to me that he thinks he met the prince of whales. The prince. Of *whales*," one NSFW tweet read.
"without context, prince of whales is an elite nickname," another user remarked.
"Seems like Trump has deleted his ‘Prince of Whales’ now....?" a person observed. "What a pity most of the world has already seen it and taken a screen grab to illustrate his ignorance and lack of knowledge."

Others imagined the meeting between Trump and the fictitious prince.
"We now go live to Donald Trump's meeting with the Prince of Whales," a post read, that included an illustration of a whale wearing a crown.
