The eldest of Prince William and Kate Middleton's three royal children, Prince George has firmly won over the nation (not least by hugging fans and creating cute Mother's Day cards) – but what is the 6-year-old (soon to be 7!) really like at home? Well, according to his godmother Julia Samuel, he's "funny, fiesty and cheeky".

Speaking on Elizabeth Day's How To Fail podcast, Julia (a psychotherapist) also shared that her good friend Princess Diana would have loved him. "He is amazing. He's funny and feisty and cheeky and God she (Diana) would have loved him so much. That is heartbreaking for all of them."

She also revealed that she has a special tradition relating to what sort of gifts she buys George, that also acts as a sweet way of paying tribute to Diana. "So I do to George what [Diana] did to us which is give impossible toys which are really noisy, take a lot of making."

Errm, sorry but are you an evil genius, Julia? If memory serves me right, I've never seen my dad (who is a literal bomb disposal engineer) more frustrated than when trying to put together a Barbie Dream House on Christmas morning.

Julia also added, "I come in slightly tipped by the size of the present that William then has to spend days putting together. And then put all the machinery together and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that. That makes me laugh and it makes George laugh." Super cute!

Meanwhile, George's younger brother, Louis, who turned 2 in April, also sounds as though he's got personality by the bucket-load, as it was recently revealed he has a rather obscure obsession with Mary Berry (yes, you read that correctly).

A gorgeous set of new family portraits - taken by none other than the Duchess of Cambridge herself – also show just how grown up all three kids are looking these days. Seriously, how have they gotten so big all of a sudden? Adorable.
