Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Hit the “Nuclear Button” on Their Royal Duties When Archie Was Born
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle apparently wanted to leave the royal family as senior royals once their son, Archie Harrison, was born.
According to a People source, Meghan and Harry’s decision is them “doing what’s right for their family.”
The saga that is Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Quit the Royal Family! continues, y’all. Just when you all thought that some of the dust was FINALLY beginning to settle, JK—you thought! We have yet another update, and this might be one of the most interesting ones to date. People just released a report saying that Meghan and Harry knew for a while that they were going to step back from their senior royal duties, and that their bb Archie Harrison is pretty much the reason why.
When Archie was born back in May, it made Meghan and Harry come to the realization that they wanted a more “normal” life. “They knew they were going to hit the nuclear button,” People’s source said. Nuclear...button? Eeek.
A second source added that Meghan started shaking up Harry’s points of view, which is what the British press frequently claimed in the past. But the truth is that Harry willingly wanted to make these changes to his lifestyle and wasn’t forced to do so.“When Meghan came around and she was interested in making changes, he welcomed it,” the source said. After Archie was born, Harry and Meghan’s primary concerns shifted—they soon became more focused on “doing what’s right for their family.”
This echoes the goals outlined in Harry and Meghan’s bombshell announcement, in which they formally stepped back as senior royals. They said:
“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.
“We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.
“We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.”
