Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Pay Tribute to Prince Philip

This morning, Buckingham Palace confirmed the sad news of Prince Philip's passing with a statement issued from the entire royal family. He was 99 years old.

"It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh," the statement read.

"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. Further announcements will be made in due course. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss."

Shortly following the announcement of Prince Philip's death, world leaders and members of monarchies throughout Europe sent their condolences to the Queen, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Members of the British royal family did not immediately issue individual or personalized memorials to the Duke of Edinburgh; they let the initial statement speak for itself. But this afternoon, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's charity Archewell, posted a tribute to Philip on its website's homepage.

It reads, "In loving memory of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh 1921-2021 Thank you for all your service...you will be greatly missed."

The message is not specifically signed by Harry or Meghan, and so it appears to be a tribute from the whole organization.

Official funeral plans for Prince Philip have yet to be confirmed, and while Harry and his grandfather were reportedly quite close, at this point, it's unclear if the Sussexes plan to attend the ceremony, as it will require international travel during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
