Prince Harry Was Mistaken for a Christmas Tree Salesman and We Love That for Him

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's visit to a Christmas tree barn included a case of mistaken identity.

Prince Harry, a royal with three middle names whose birth was a matter of international headlines, was recently mistaken for an employee at a Christmas tree barn in California.

According to People, the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle made a low-key outing to purchase a Christmas tree for their Montecito home. Instead of requesting that the business shut down to provide the couple a fanfare-free visit, the Sussexes simply had their team call ahead to find a “good time” to sneak in.

“We had our lot empty when they got there — their agent promoted them a good time to come instead of us shutting it down,” an employee explained.

And it almost went without a hitch …

“There was one family in there and their stoked little son ran through trees up to Harry and asked if he worked here not knowing who that is.”

Well, now that Harry is free to hold a non-royal-given job, perhaps Christmas tree salesman fits the bill?

Let’s look at the facts:

1) He has a beard. And not just any beard, but the borderline-scruffy sort that would specifically encourage you (read: me) to buy a Christmas tree. Having facial hair is not an inherently hire-able trait, but I’d say this logic breaks down when it comes to anything even tangential to forestry.

2) He appears physically able to carry a tree. This is no small feat, and likely an essential skill in the Christmas tree industry.

3) He is Prince Harry. Between the disarmingly charming accent and the fact that he is a high-level celebrity, it would be difficult to say no to a personal sales pitch from the Duke of Sussex. I mean, look around, that’s what the holiday season is all about … celebrities selling you stuff you don’t need!

In conclusion, unnamed California Christmas tree business, please do us all a favor and hire your new employee of the month, Prince Henry Charles Albert David Mountbatten-Windsor.
