Prince Harry Is Reportedly a Fan of The Crown
It has got to be a strange experience watching your family’s decades-old drama play out on the small screen, but Prince Harry is reportedly a big fan of The Crown.
In new excerpt from the forthcoming biography Harry: Life, Loss, and Love, author Katie Nicholl alleges that Prince Harry and his fiancée Meghan Markle both love to watch the Netflix show about the Queen’s reign.
Nicholl describes the royal couple’s relatively normal home life in the book: “An accomplished cook, Meghan loved to make extravagant dinners for Harry, and they enjoyed staying in and eating her delicious homemade meals and watching films and TV shows like The Crown on Netflix.”
Prince Harry isn’t the only royal who has been rumored to watch the series.
His cousin Princess Eugenie, who is also getting married this year, said that she's watched “a couple of episodes” of the show. “It is filmed beautifully,” she said in an interview with Hello. “The music is wonderful, the story is beautiful. You feel very proud to watch it. I can’t speak for everyone, but that’s how I felt when I watched it.”
And the Queen is even rumored to be a fan.
Just don’t ask Prince Philip about the series. In an interview with The Observer, Matt Smith, who played Philip in the first two seasons of the show, revealed that a friend of his sat next to the 96-year-old royal at a private dinner. Philip reportedly asked Smith's acquaintance "What do you do? Are you involved in this Crown thing?"
The friend replied no, but later asked Philip if he had watched any of the Netflix show.
The Duke of Edinburgh replied swiftly, “Don’t. Be. Ridiculous."
