Prince Harry's Earth Day Message Included a Touching Tribute to Prince Philip

To commemorate Earth Day, Prince Harry spoke about the importance of conservation and continued support for some of his favorite causes. Harry also used Earth Day to offer a sweet tribute to his late grandfather, Prince Philip, who passed away on April 9. In a message and video filmed for African Parks, Harry called Philip a "conservation champion" and promised to continue his legacy and work to protect and preserve the communities and wildlife in Africa.

"On this Earth Day, I reflect on generations of conservation champions, including my late grandfather, and feel proud and energized to continue doing my part in this legacy," Harry's statement reads. "This year especially, I join the incredible African Parks team and communities around the world in shared dedication to our environment and collective well-being."

Harry is the president of African Parks, an organization that works to preserve the continent's biodiversity and help local communities. The NGO manages 19 parks in 11 countries across Africa and hopes to expand that number to 30 by 2030.

"As we now begin to move towards an era of global recovery and regeneration, it's critical that we continue to look at the strengthening and protecting of biodiversity, not just as a value we hold — but as a responsibility that is vital to our way of life," his statement finished.
