Prince Louis‘ official birth certificate was made public today after it was signed by the Duke of Cambridge.

The official document gives the newest member of the royal family’s official name (and we warn you now it’s a mouthful): His Royal Highness Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge.

New dad Prince William signed the birth certificate on Tuesday at Kensington Palace.

Interestingly, in the ‘Name and surname’ box, the Duke and Duchess are only recorded by their official titles: His Royal Highness Prince William Arthur Philip Louis Duke of Cambridge and Catherine Elizabeth Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge.

Under their ‘occupations’ they are noted as the “Prince and Princess of the United Kingdom”.

The couple’s third child was born at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, on Monday April 23 at 11.01am, weighing 8lb 7oz.

Prince Louis is fifth in line to the throne, not surpassing his sister Princess Charlotte in a historic move.
