Buckingham Palace revealed Monday morning that Prince Philip has been transferred to a top hospital across London for more treatment and testing.

The prince, 99, was admitted to King Edward VII hospital almost two weeks ago as a "precautionary measure" after feeling unwell. And he was recently moved to St. Bartholomew's Hospital, a leading high-tech hospital, where he is being treated for an infection and tested for a pre-existing heart condition. According to a statement put out from Buckingham Palace, he is "responding to treatment."

"The Duke of Edinburgh was today transferred from King Edward VII's Hospital to St. Bartholomew's Hospital where doctors will continue to treat him for an infection, as well as undertake testing and observation for a pre-existing heart condition," the statement read. "The Duke remains comfortable and is responding to treatment but is expected to remain in hospital until at least the end of the week."

After pictures surfaced of a patient being moved from Kind Edward VII hospital, while concealing their identity with umbrellas, speculation began that the prince was being transferred.

The palace previously stated that the hospital admittance was unrelated to Covid-19 — both the prince and queen received their vaccinations in January.

Last week, his youngest son Prince Edward gave an update to Sky News on his father's condition.

"As far as I'm aware, well I did speak to him the other day, so he's a lot better thank you very much indeed, and he's looking forward to getting out, which is the most positive thing," said Prince Edward. "So we keep our fingers crossed."
