Will Prince William and Kate follow this photo trend among Europe’s royal families?

There’s a certain trend popping up among European royal families this summer! Both the Belgian and Dutch royals – from Queen Máxima’s coordinated family of five to Queen Mathilde’s beautiful family of six – have been ramping up the glamour and taking magazine-worthy family photos. But what royal watchers are wondering is whether the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will one day follow suit.

Of particular note was the Dutch Royal family – King Willem-Alexander , Princess Amalia, 14, Princess Alexia, 13, Queen Máxima and Princess Ariane, 11 – posing for the most glamorous royal photos yet. The blond brood was captured mid-stride, coordinating perfectly in matching black-and-white outfits, their voluminous hair bouncing at their shoulders.

The Belgian royal family was quick to follow in their footsteps, with a more summery but equally eye-catching set of portraits marking King Philippe’s five years on the throne. The monarch, Queen Mathilde, Princesses Elisabeth and Eleonore, 16 and 10, and Princes Gabriel and Emmanuel, 14 and 12, walked hand-in-hand in one of their own fierce photos on the grounds of their royal residence.

After the release of these beautiful photos, with their unprecedented style of photography from a royal family, fans of Prince William and Duchess Kate are wondering if they’ll see the family of five pose in their own candid shots anytime soon. The Cambridge clan recently released pictures in celebration of Prince Louis’ christening. Some of the more candid shots – like one in which Kate is looking down lovingly at a joyful Louis – are leaning towards this new trend and offer an excitingly new lens through which to see the British Royal Family .

The first photo of the family of five, which feature an adorable Prince George and Princess Charlotte , were taken against a grey backdrop at Clarence House. They resemble the posed shots released for Christmas last year, in which the then-family of four coordinated in sweet blue outfits, showing off their megawatt smiles for the camera.
