Prince William Meets with British Divers Who Helped Rescue the Thai Boys Soccer Team from the Cave
The Duke of Cambridge is showing celebrities like Elon Musk how to treat the Thai cave rescue divers. Earlier this morning, Prince William hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace for the British divers and support staff who assisted in the Tham Luang cave rescue this past July.

The rescue followed an incident on June 23, when a flash flood trapped a young boys' soccer team and their coach inside the Tham Luang cave. The daring mission, executed over several days, quickly gathered an international audience of well-wishers hoping for the boys' safe return.
Among those to credit for the mission's success are divers Christopher Jewell, Lance Corporal Connor Roe, Jim Warny, and Martin Holroyd-all of whom Prince William met at this morning's Palace reception.
Other Brits offered assistance to the divers. Support staff sourced dive equipment, arranged travel, provided medical advice, and fundraised for the four men. The Duke also took time to meet and thank these supporters for their necessary contributions to the rescue.
Prince William has previously supported rescue work as a Patron of the Mountain Rescue England and Wales. Today's event was organized in association with that group, as well as the British Cave Rescue Council.
While Prince William was shaking hands, the royal news cycle was focused elsewhere. Less than 36 hours after Meghan Markle's pregnancy announcement-about which the Duke is reportedly "delighted"-his sister-in-law Pippa Middleton delivered a healthy baby boy. In a short statement, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said that they were "thrilled" for Pippa and her husband James Matthews. And so begins the competition for the royal couple's favorite niece or nephew.
