Princess Diana Used to Wear This Famous Brand All the Time — Until She Was Forced to Stop
Each time we see a photo of Princess Diana dressed head to toe in '80s and '90s clothes — long socks, oversized collars, peplum skirts, etc. — we're further convinced the royal could have pulled off any trend. But, after her marriage to Prince Charles ended, her wardrobe underwent a change. There were certain items she felt she could no longer wear, and that included some items from Chanel.
In 2018, Australian designer Jayson Brunsdon shed a bit of light on why Diana no longer incorporated the fashion house's logo in any of her outfits. He told Harper's Bazaar U.K. that back in 1996, he had suggested she complete her look with a classic pair of Chanel shoes, but received a surprising response.
"I said, ‘Well these would look great with the Versace. And she said, ‘No, I can't wear linked C’s, the double C.’” Apparently, the double C was now a reminder of Charles and Camilla, who had been the prince's mistress.

We understand where Diana was coming from, and it's very possible that the press would have made the same association at some point. Still, she didn't stop wearing the brand completely. Diana sneakily wore suits and things that didn't include the logo, and one of her most iconic Chanel looks actually came after her divorce.

While visiting France in 1988, Princess Diana stood out in her long, bright red coat, which she styled with a matching hat.

The royal was never one to shy away from color, and this royal blue jacket added the pop her outfit needed while visiting the Great Ormond Street Hospital For Children in 1992.
