She may be ninth in line to the throne but Princess Eugenie apparently had to delay the announcement of her engagement to Jack Brooksbank because of royal protocol.

The 28-year-old, who officially revealed her engagement back in January, is set to walk down the aisle on October 12th at Windsor Castle.

However, it’s believed the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson was forced to hold off on making her happy news public information.

“It’s my understanding that Eugenie and Jack decided some time ago that they wanted to get married, and there was some talk about a wedding in 2017, but they had to wait for Harry to go first,” a family friend told Vanity Fair.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement in November 2017 and walked down the aisle on May 19th, with their nuptials also taking place at Windsor Castle.

“The feeling among the Yorks is that she deserves her moment in the spotlight and a big royal wedding with all the frills,” the source continued.

“There are no bad feelings at all. Eugenie is very close to Harry, and she knows how the system works.”

And while Harry and Meghan may have wanted to keep their big day as small as possible, Eugenie’s wedding day looks set to be a huge celebration, with the young royal inviting over 850 family and friends.

The princess has also invited 1,200 members of the public to join her on her wedding day and will take a short carriage ride with her new husband through the grounds of the castle.

However, royal fans may be disappointed with the TV coverage from the day as it’s been claimed the BBC have passed on the rights to broadcast the event.

“The BBC was approached because they have a special relationship with Buckingham Palace and a formula that works,” an unnamed source told the Mail on Sunday.

“But they turned it down because they don’t think enough people will tune in and that there isn’t enough support for the Yorks.”

It’s thought that ITV are bidding for rights to show highlights from the day.
