Princess Eugenie displays edgy sense of royal fashion

When it comes to fashion, Princess Eugenie is the dark horse of the royal family.

Princess Eugenie

The 28-year-old tends to take a backseat to headline makers Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, but dedicated royal watchers know that Eugenie can flex some serious fashion muscle when she wants to.

Case in point – her day to night wardrobe overhaul.

Earlier this week, Princess Eugenie accompanied the Queen and several members of the royal family to the opening day of the Royal Ascot.

Adhering to the strict dress code, Eugenie looked polished in a light grey dress by British label Osman and a sleek hat by Emily London. The princess punched up the look with some high fashion heels by Valentino and a handbag by M2Malletier.

After serving serious princess vibes, the bride-to-be switched up her look for something edgier for the Serpentine Summer Party in London.

Eugenie arrived at the event wearing an asymmetrical patterned dress by Roland Mouret but added the unexpected twist of leather pants underneath and a pair of heeled black booties.

Eugenie was accompanied by fiancé Jack Brooksbank who she is set to wed in October at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle – the same venue where her cousin Prince Harry wed Markle earlier this year.

The princess’s style features lots of patterns and florals, and unlike the more senior members of the royal family, she can take fashion risks – like wearing leather.

Princess Eugenie and her older sister Beatrice sit 9th and 8th in line for the throne, respectively, and  do not have full-time royal roles. In fact, Princess Beatrice calls New York City home where she works for an artificial-intelligence company called Afiniti.

While Eugenie does make appearances at charity events, the Newcastle University educated princess works for the Hauser & Wirth art gallery as an associate director.

Eugenie met fiancé Jack Brooksbank, a brand ambassador for George Clooney’s tequila company, Casamigos, in 2010.

The couple became engaged during a trip to Nicaragua, where Brooksbank presented the princess with a pink sapphire engagement ring.
