Royals, they're just like us! And by that we mean they wear dark nail polish (we see you, Meghan Markle) and dye their hair a richer hue in the cooler months. Princess Eugenie of York just debuted a rich new espresso hair color on Instagram, marking another major hair change for the royal who has had quite the eventful year.

"As patron of the Tate Young Patrons, I was happy to host a reception at The Queen’s Gallery where we got to see two magnificent shows on Russia. A must see in London," the princess wrote on Instagram, sharing a few photos from the event. Her hair is no longer the light, auburn-red color it was at her wedding to Jack Brooksbank back in October. Instead, it's a deep espresso brown with the slightest hint of red-the perfect shade for the winter months.

This isn't the first time Princes Eugenie has changed up her look. A few days before her wedding, she was spotted leaving a salon with freshly-dyed red hair. Over the years, her hair has covered the spectrum from light chestnut with bits of golden highlights to ultra-dark chocolate brown. She's also one a little rogue when it comes to royal beauty, rocking thematic British nail art on a few occasions.

The royals have been exploring the darker side of beauty this month. At the British Fashion Awards, Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance wearing her hair in a super-sleek low bun and paired with vampy plum nail polish. It's rumored that royals are only allowed to wear Essie's Ballet Slippers on their nails, but that's not entirely true. “There’s no actual protocol about dark nail polish,” royal correspondent Omid Scobie told BAZAAR.com. “It’s simply about being appropriate-we’d never see this at a royal engagement. [The British Fashion Awards ceremony] is a celebration of fashion and there’s a lot more flexibility on what one can wear.” Kate Middleton has also been spotted wearing a dark pedicure over the years.
