Princess Eugenie is continuing to support a cause close to her heart. The Princess, who underwent surgery for scoliosis at age 12, became the royal patron of the very hospital that treated her in her youth last year, and now is working to bolster their unique new fundraising project.

The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) teamed up with artist Clare Twomey to create handmade porcelain buttercups. "The Buttercup Collection" consists of two thousand of these art objects. The flower was chosen because of its long association with the RNOH.

Eugenie expressed her excitement for the collection in a statement, saying, "As a former patient of the RNOH, and as Patron of the RNOH Charity, I am delighted to support The Buttercup Collection. I know from my own experience that being a child in hospital and having complex surgery can be very daunting. For almost 100 years, buttercups have offered hope at the RNOH, and I am so pleased to see this tradition continue in such a beautiful way."

The royal first became the hospital's patron in March 2019, when she visited the institution with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, for their first-ever joint engagement. "It is such an honor to be here today, I feel like my bones and my blood are a part of this building," she said at the time, per Cosmopolitan UK.

Memorably, Eugenie has worked to raise awareness about scoliosis by sharing her own experience, posting her old X-rays on Instagram and wearing a wedding dress designed to showcase the scar on her back.
