Princess Eugenie Sent a Sweet Message to Princess Beatrice and Her Newborn Daughter

Princess Eugenie is officially an aunt! This morning, Princess Beatrice announced the birth of her and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's first child together, whose name has yet to be revealed. The baby girl arrived on Saturday, September 18 2021, just seven months after the birth of Princess Eugenie's son August. The news was first revealed via the @RoyalFamily Twitter account , which confirmed that “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter.” The statement went on to reveal that the baby weighs 6 pounds and 2 ounces, and that the “family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.”

Unlike Eugenie, who gave birth in the Portland hospital in Westminster—where both she and Beatrice were also born—Princess Beatrice chose to delivery her baby girl at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. To celebrate of the joyous news, Princess Eugenie shared a sweet, sisterly message on her Instagram page, congratulating her “dearest Beabea” and “Edo” on their newborn girl:

The two-part message including one note to Beatrice and Edoardo, and a separate note directed at their daughter. To her sister and brother-in-law, she wrote: “Congratulations on your new angel. I can't wait to meet her and I'm so proud of you. We're going to have so much fun watching our children grow up.”

And to the new baby: “To my new niece I love you already and think you're just awesome from the photos.. we're going to have so much fun ⁣together. Love your Auntie Euge.”

The sisters share an undeniably close bond, and the newest member of their extended family is sure to only bring the Princesses closer together.

In addition to Princess Eugenie's son August, Princess Beatrice and Mapelli Mozzi's newborn has plenty of relatives close in age for her to play with: there are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children Archie and Lilibet (ages two and three months), and Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall's children Lena and Lucas (ages three and six months), to name a few. Mapelli Mozzi also has a son—Beatrice's step-son—“Wolfie,” from a previous marriage. According to the statement released by the royal family, “the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf.”

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi wed on July 17 last year, with a small ceremony that took place at All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park. While the couple had originally planned to get married in May of 2020, the coronavirus pandemic forced them to scale down the event, with only close members of their families in attendance. Needless to say, Eugenie was right by her sister's side for the intimate event.

Less than a year after their nuptials—in May of 2021—Buckingham Palace announced the news that Princess Beatrice was expecting her first child, which would upon birth became Queen Elizabeth's twelfth great-grandchild, and 11th in the British line of succession.
