Princess Eugenie has revealed London-based label Peter Pilotto as the designer of her wedding dress.
The 28-year-old bride is wearing an ivory-hued satin gown by the British brand to wed longterm partner Jack Brooksbank at St George’s Chapel in Windsor this morning.
The dress boasts a cold-shoulder neckline, long sleeves and a dramatic, sweeping train. The low back feature on the gown was at the specific request of Princess Eugenie who had surgery aged 12 to correct scoliosis.
A closer look at Princess Eugenie’s wedding dress
Princess Eugenie’s decision to wear the London Fashion Week label is admittedly surprising, as bookmakers predicted she would choose Erdem in the running to the big day with odds of 7/2.
But Princess Eugenie hinted that she would be wearing a ‘British-based designer’ in a recent British Vogue interview.
Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos comprise the design team behind the namesake label.
The brand first launched in 2007 and is now sold in over 50 countries across the globe – with luxury retailers such as Net-aPorter, Selfridges, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman on the books.
We first caught a glimpse of the royal’s wedding dress as she travelled in a 1977 Rolls Royce Phantom VI to the star-studded ceremony alongside her father, the Duke of York.
Following in the Duchess of Sussex’s sartorial footsteps, the dress’ fabric features sentimental motifs which include a Thistle for Scotland (in tribute to Balmoral) while an ivy represents the couple’s Kensington Palace residence.
Once the artwork by designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos was completed, it was translated into a jacquard weave in the Como region of Italy.
Princess Eugenie’s wedding tiara and jewellery
In keeping with the green bows on the backs of the bridesmaids’ dresses, Princess Eugenie wears a pair of emerald drop earrings which were made for her as a gift from Brooksbank.
The Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, borrowed from her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, completed the look.
In a further demonstration of her sartorial prowess, Princess Eugenie wore a pair of satin peep-toe heels by London Fashion Week regular, Charlotte Olympia.
Hairstylist Sonny-Jo MacFarlane was behind the royal’s low bun while her wedding make-up was dreamt up by senior Bobbi Brown artist Hannah Martin.
Princess Eugenie’s wedding bouquet
Princess Eugenie’s wedding bouquet was created by floral designer Rob Van Helden’s sister, Patrice Van Helden Oakes. The bunch is made up of Lily of the Valley, Stephanotis pips, baby blue thistles, white spray roses and trailing ivy.
In keeping with the Victorian tradition of carrying myrtle, sprigs of the plant hand-picked from Osbourne House were also included in the bouquet.
