Princess Eugenie's fiancé won't receive a royal title

One of the biggest stories of the year so far was the May wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

News outlets and royal watchers became swept up in the fairytale romance of the royal and the former actress as the pair said “I do” and became the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Now, the royal family is counting down to the wedding of the Queen’s granddaughter, Princess Eugenie of York, to long-time beau, Jack Brooksbank — but don’t expect any royal titles to be given for the pair.

According to inside sources, Eugenie “couldn’t care less” about royal titles, and is “perfectly happy” to be Mrs. Brooksbank.

A representative for the York family has confirmed that Brooksbank will not receive a royal title through his marriage, therefore retaining his non-royal status.

After the wedding, Eugenie would technically be addressed as Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank. However, there is a possibility that the princess could give up her royal title completely, but sources claim this is highly unlikely.

The 28-year-old princess is set to marry Brooksbank on Oct. 12 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, the same location where Prince Harry and Markle were wed earlier this year.

As tenth in line to the British throne, Eugenie’s nuptials won’t be televised, but this union is nothing to scoff at. Despite being a “commoner,” Brooksbank is actually part of one of the oldest and wealthiest families in Britain.

The 32-year-old brand ambassador for George Clooney’s tequila company, Casamigos, had the same posh upbringing as his royal fiancé, attending pricey private schools, but ditched university to pursue a career in hospitality and at one point, managed a popular London nightclub.

Brooksbank and Princess Eugenie met in 2010 at a Swiss holiday ski resort when the princess was only 20 years old. The couple maintained a long-distance relationship while Eugenie worked in New York at an auction house until she returned to London in 2015.

The pair became engaged in January of this year during a holiday in Nicaragua, where Brooksbank gave Eugenie a pink padparadscha sapphire ring surrounded by diamonds.

Not too shabby for a commoner!
