Priyanka Chopra has been criticized on social media for opting to wear a dress that showed her legs while meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Berlin.
The Bollywood-turned-Hollywood star was labelled “disrespectful” by onlookers in India after she uploaded a photo to Facebook wearing a short floral dress by Zimmermann.
“Priyanka, you were sitting with the Prime Minister of our country. You should have at least had the basic sense of covering your legs,” one Facebook user wrote.
“Priyanka, you are disgusting…” wrote another, followed by a string of ill-natured remarks.
Rather than address the controversy directly, the unapologetic star responded with another leggy snap. A photo alongside her mother, captioned: “Legs for days.”
The cryptic clapback received more than 100,000 likes in just a few hours.
It’s not the first time in recent history an Indian actress has faced anger over her wardrobe choices.
Deepika Padukone was publicly called out by a leading Indian newspaper in 2014 for tweeting a picture that featured a little cleavage.
“YES! I am a woman. I have breasts AND a cleavage! You got a problem!!??” Padukone tweeted to the paper. Many other actresses also came out in support of her.
Chopra, who stars in the new “Baywatch” film, will continue European movie tour unfazed and uninterrupted.
