This Product Is Better Than Mascara

From Sweet

We all love mascara for its lash-enhancing merits-how a simple swipe of it suddenly makes our eyes seem bigger and more expressive. In fact, New York-based makeup artist William Scott loves mascara so much, he's made lashes and brows his specialty. "Long, full, and fluttery lashes always make the biggest difference," Scott says. "As a makeup artist, it's the reason why mascara is my favorite step in any makeup look."

But, as with hair you style every day, unless your lashes are nourished, volume is going to be hard to come by, even with mascara. Scott has a solution. "If you feel like mascara doesn't make much of a difference because you don't have much lash to begin with, you will enjoy the results of using a lash serum," Scott says. "It's great if you want longer lashes without the maintenance of lash extensions."

While some formulas differ, lash serums are usually applied at the lash line much like an eyeliner. "I always say it's best to apply [serums] at night, before bed," Scott says. "During the day we apply moisturizer, sunblock, and makeup-that's a lot of layers. It's easier on the skin to apply a serum at night (and one less thing to do before work)."

Check out some of the serums we can't wait to try!
