The royal family is expecting a new addition next year. Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, who married in Windsor nearly two years ago, announced that they are having a baby this morning, with a statement from Buckingham Palace and their very own Instagram post. And of course, the Queen has reacted to the news as one would expect: with excitement.

The announcement released by Buckingham Palace noted that Eugenie's parents are thrilled, as are the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, who are said to be "delighted" with the happy news.

In addition to the official palace statement, Princess Eugenie celebrated with her own Instagram post. She shared an adorable photo of two baby slippers, as well as a picture of herself and her husband grinning. "Jack and I are so excited for early 2021," she wrote, adding a baby emoji.

It has been an eventful few months for the royals. Earlier this summer, Eugenie's older sister, Princess Beatrice, marrying her beau Edoardo "Edo" Mapelli Mozzi in a surprise, socially-distanced ceremony in a chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Eugenie and Jack's little one will be the Queen's ninth great-grandchild, joining Prince William and Kate Middleton's three children, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's young son, Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly's two girls, and Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall's two daughters. For now, it's not clear when exactly the latest member of the Windsor family is set to arrive, but Town & Country will be sure to cover any news or developments about the newest royal baby as they arrive.
