Queen Letizia Fabulously Repurposes the Dress She Wore to Meet Michelle Obama Last Summer

Thank you, Queen Letizia of Spain, for verifying that it’s A-OK to wear the same look to more than one special event.

On Monday, the royal headed to Malaga, Spain, to attend an event at Cervantes Institute, where she gave Kate Middleton a run for her money in a head-to-toe red look that’s equally elegant and appropriate. She paired it with dangling earrings and open-toe red heels.

Despite the bold color and crinkled texture, the Nina Ricci design isn’t necessarily the most memorable ensemble Letizia has ever worn. And if you're feeling a pang of déjà vu, there's good reason. Last summer, the royal wore the same dress to greet former First Lady Michelle Obama in Madrid for a Let Girls Learn event, where they exchanged similar views on the importance of girls’ education.

For the occasion, the royal made a striking contrast to Obama’s white frock with her dress, which she complemented with teal earrings and white pumps.

Here’s the thing: Letizia may not necessarily deserve an award for re-purposing a dress but it's noteworthy when a public figure—whose looks are recorded and scrutinized—make that return trip to the closet for another wear.
