Quinta Brunson Loses Her Earrings at the NAACP Awards — and Asks Star-Studded Audience for Help!

The 'Abbott Elementary' creator and star made the announcement while on stage accepting her award for outstanding actor in a comedy series

Quinta Brunson won big at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards over the weekend. But it was something she lost that was on the top of her mind when she went to claim her trophy.

"Thank you guys, I lost both my earrings," the Abbott Elementary creator and star said on Saturday, March 16, while accepting her award for outstanding actor in a comedy series onstage at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

She went on ask the star-studded crowd for help. "If anybody sees my earrings," she said, describing the jewelry. "Just little dangly things, cost a lot — so if anybody sees them..."

Brunson, 34, earned laughs with the remark from the audience.

Among the crowd were famous faces such as Idris ElbaUsherKeke PalmerKerry WashingtonSterling K. Brown, Leslie Jones, Octavia Spencer, Jeffrey Wright, Halle Bailey, Misty Copeland, and Vivica A. Fox, as well as Color Purple star Danielle Brooks, Taraji P. Henson, Fantasia Barrino and Colman Domingo.

Queen Latifah hosted the show, with Andra Day performing.

Brunson's earrings may have gone missing before she ever hit the red carpet, though.

The Philadelphia native wasn't wearing them when she posed for photographers in a architectural white Naeem Khan gown with a deep-V neckline, fitted bodice and long train.

She was, however, wearing jewelry in the form of a series of diamond and silver rings on her fingers. Her makeup moment was a standout too, with a high-gloss lips and shimmery shadow. As for her hair, she wore it in a gorgeous, swept-back style.

In her acceptance speech, Brunson expressed her gratitude to her community of supporters and friends.

"Let me just say thank you so much, it's such an honor," Brunson said in her speech. “I love coming to this ceremony and getting to see all of my friends and all the people that I don’t get to see on a daily basis while we’re working. I’m just extremely honored, yet again."

"I’m very proud of the work I get to do in Abbott. I’m very proud of my cast," she added. "Thank you to my family. I hope my mom and dad are watching, and all the Black people in my life."

In addition to her acting win, Abbott Elementary was also named best comedy at the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday.
