Reddit roasts over-the-top nanny job description: 'Basically be [the] children's parent'

Have you ever felt like you know the person behind a job posting? And you know they’re super annoying?

Reddit user GirlFromTheVille shared a “very specific” description for a nanny position in the r/ChoosingBeggars subreddit. If anyone is being “too picky,” as the subreddit suggests, it’s definitely this parent.

“Must be responsible for a wide range of domestic duties,” the post starts out, burying the lede for how insane the demands are about to become. “The nanny will be assisting the mom with two kids, who are 8 and 13.”

In addition to needing to have their own car, be good with all kinds of pets and have experience with computers, the nanny also is expected to fulfill family and personal shopping needs on a regular basis.

Candidates also need to have a bachelor’s degree and two years’ experience of nannying or working as an au pair. Being bilingual is a “plus” while being “between the age of 25 to 30 years old” is “a must.”

The kicker? The nanny will be compensated for running this family’s life and being on-call 24/7 with $13 an hour.

“So basically be my children’s parent and run my household,” a Redditor summarized succinctly.

“The age range is also very telling,” another added. “They don’t want someone older because they’ll lose ‘power.’ It’s a lot harder to pull BS on someone older and wiser than yourself. They also don’t want someone under 25 because they know all humans are idiots till around that point and don’t want to risk that with their own kids.”

“I was paying $20 an hour 15 years ago and the main rule was ‘don’t let them kill each other,'” someone joked.
