Right now is the slimmest you’ll be all year, apparently

There’s no doubt that as the year’s colder weather appears, so do the oh-so unhealthy (but oh-so delicious) treats.

Think about it - Autumn has already got us all excited about pumpkin-spice lattes and Halloween sweets, let alone the Christmas feast to come.

So it’s no coincidence that now - early October - is the thinnest we’ll be all year.

According to a new study, even if you’re pretty healthy as a whole you’ll probably add on a little bit of weight over the next few months.

Researchers collected data from around 1,800 Americans, 800 Germans and 400 Japanese people using wireless weighing scales over the course of one year.

They found that people were thinnest at the beginning of October, heaviest around New Year’s Day, and that they didn’t recover from the festive season until late April.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure that that’s probably all the booze, pudding and pigs in blankets we inhale around Christmas - because at what other time of year do we eat so many incredible things over a week-long period?

But the moral of the story isn’t to punish yourself by sitting eating half a Ryvita as your family tucks into the Christmas roast - nossir.

Enjoy yourself, enjoy a normal portion of those Christmas delicacies, and if you feel the need for a health boost afterwards, that’s when you can get those running trainers back on.
