Rihanna's Version of Selena Gomez's "Same Old Love" Leaked — and It's Amazing

Selena Gomez's "Same Old Love" wasn't always her song. Before Gomez released the tune in 2015, Rihanna teased on Twitter (way back in 2014) that she was in the runnings for the track — and now, there's proof. According to Elle, PopCrave leaked the tune on YouTube and fans are falling for her take on the song.

The dream team of Mikkel Storleer Eriksen, Benny Blanco, Ross Golan, Charli XCX, and Tor Erik Hermansen wrote "Same Old Love." Back in 2016, Charli explained to Genius that Rihanna had recorded it, but it didn't fit in the mood and direction of her album.

"[I] wrote the song with StarGate and Benny Blanco and Ross Golan at the beginning of 2015," Charli XCX wrote on her Tumblr, Genius noted. "I think at one point Rihanna was gonna sing it or something, but then I think the direction of her record changed and it wasn’t right for her anymore (anti is one of my fav albums of the year btw slay). Then I think Selena heard it and was into it, and she sang it, and it just suited her voice and her story so well. The song felt so emotional and real coming from her. I was really happy she cut it; it felt very powerful."

The timeline puts the song in Ri's Anti era (2016), so fans can imagine it alongside tunes like "Work" and "Love on the Brain." Gomez released it on Revival, an album many fans associate with her on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber.
