Robin Williams’s Widow Delivers Touching Speech on Their Anniversary: He "Had the Heart of a Patriot"

It's been more than two years since the passing of Robin Williams, but warm memories of the beloved actor continue to honor the star.
On Saturday, Williams's widow, Susan Williams, spoke nothing but kind words about her late husband in Chicago, where she was on hand to receive the 2016 Angel Harvey Heart of a Patriot Award on his behalf. The recognition, presented by the USO, was in celebration of Williams's close work with the troops. Famously, the actor was the first A-lister ever to tour for and entertain the armed forces.
In her speech, Susan began by expressing just how kind Robin was. "Robin absolutely had the heart of a patriot. I cannot think of a more fitting award for him, nor one that he would be more proud to receive, especially in the presence of all of you," she said, according to People. "Robin was also a warrior, and like so many of our finest servicemen and women he had battles to face."
She moved on to divulge on his battle with Lewy Body Disease, explaining that even at his worst, Williams always kept the troops in mind. "Robin honored the values woven into the fabric of a soldier's heart," she continued. "Loyalty, duty, service and respect--he himself embodied these qualities and this was his connection to the hearts within all of you."

In addition, she honored his life, saying that while he didn't win against the disease, "he did not lose the war." Touchingly, she also went on to reveal that Saturday, which marked the USO's 75th anniversary, was also hers. "Today, Oct. 22, is Robin and my wedding anniversary, too, and there's no place I would rather be. It feels like Robin wanted me here on this day to celebrate with all of you."
