How the royal 'fab four' broke royal protocol at Eugenie's wedding

By Olivia Morris, Yahoo Australia

All eyes were on Kate Middleton, Prince William, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as they arrived at the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

As the royal ‘fab four’ arrived at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex skirted around royal tradition by getting out of their car first and entering the chapel ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

In general, royal hierarchy dictates that William and Kate should walk in front of the Sussexes as they are higher ranking royals.

This is why at many events we see Harry and Meghan standing slightly behind Wills and Kate.

Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, explained to People earlier this year that because Wills is “older” and “more senior” – not to mention a future king – he should go first with his wife due to the “pecking order” in the royal family.

Both princes looked dapper in their morning suits and, of course, both their wives looked absolutely stunning.

Kate wore a bold pink Alexander McQueen dress, paired with a Philip Treacy headpiece, while newlywed Meghan looked absolutely stunning in a navy Givenchy outfit.

Royal watchers had predicted that both Kate and Meghan would wear outfits they have worn previously, but here again, they bucked the trend.

Earlier this week Camilla Tominey, associate editor at The Telegraph explained the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex would have to wear outfits they have already worn.

“This is so they do not upstage the bride,” she said on UK chat show This Morning. “Don’t be surprised if we see Meghan in something she has worn recently.”

Kate Middleton has previously recycled outfits

Kate is no stranger to recycling outfits.

At the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in May, the 36-year-old wore an ivory Alexander McQueen design which she had previously worn three times before.

More recently, Kate was seen at the wedding of Robert Suggs and Sophie Carter, her best friend, wearing a Catherine Walker coat and lace dress she first wore when she visited Berlin in 2017.
