The Royal Family Celebrates Prince Philip's 98th Birthday
Prince Philip has turned 98, and members of the royal family have been celebrating the milestone on social media.
Philip was born on the island of Corfu in Greece in 1921. He married Queen Elizabeth (then Princess Elizabeth) on November 20, 1947.
Philip was absent from Trooping the Colour 2019, which commemorates the Queen's second birthday.
Congratulations are in order as Prince Philip is celebrating his 98th birthday on June 10, 2019.
The royal family has already begun celebrating the Duke of Edinburgh's impressive birthday, by posting a plethora of tributes on social media. Philip was born on Corfu in Greece in 1921, and married Elizabeth on November 20, 1947.
Prince Philip skipped Trooping the Colour this past weekend, which marks Queen Elizabeth's second birthday (her real birthday is on April 21). But perhaps he was merely conserving his energy for his own birthday celebrations-which include being inundated with social media posts in his honor.
The royal family's official Twitter account posted a photo of the prince, along with the caption, "The Duke of Edinburgh was born on this day in 1921. In this picture His Royal Highness was photographed in 1953, 66 years ago. #HappyBirthdayHRH":

English also reflected on Philip's retirement from official royal duties writing, "I remember the Duke carrying out his last ‘official’ solo engagement at Buckingham Palace in 2017. Some royal staff had tears in their eyes as he walked off along the forecourt."
