Fun fact: Women in the royal family are rarely seen without a clutch or purse of some sort, and if you look carefully you'll notice that they typically hold bags in their left hand. For example, here's our girl Meghan Markle at her royal engagement earlier this week:

So, what's up with that? According to royal expert Myka Meier of Beaumont Etiquette (who was trained by a former member of The Queen's Household!) there's a simple reason: royal etiquette. If you think about it, holding a bag in the left hand leaves the right hand free for greeting members of the public!

As she puts it, "When entering a room or event, handbags or briefcases are held in the LEFT hand so that your right hand stays open to meet, greet and shake hands! Prince Charles does this too!"

Cool, off to practice holding my bags and greeting my people.*
