Sacramento officials look to prevent sideshows at Delta Shores

Sacramento city leaders and police are working to stop dangerous sideshows from happening at a popular retail spot in the city. Sacramento police said sideshows are a common occurrence at Delta Shores, a shopping center in the south Sacramento area. Police said between Jan. 1 and Feb. 28, 2023, officers got 50 calls for service to Delta Shores related to "sideshow activities." Officials said sideshows are a problem across the city. Sideshows are when drivers perform donuts, drifting in circles and are often spectated by crowds that could be anywhere between dozens to hundreds of people. Sideshows often happen in parking lots but can also happen on major streets and highways, often leading to traffic jams.
