After a last-minute broken wrist took Christie Brinkley out of the Dancing With the Stars competition, Sailor Brinkley-Cook stepped up to the plate and took her mom's spot just three days before season 28 was set to premiere. Despite Sailor's significantly reduced rehearsal time, DWTS fans were not disappointed with her ballroom performance.

The 21-year-old Sports Illustrated model paired up with pro dancer Val Chmerkovskiy to tackle a foxtrot choreographed to the song "Uptown Girl" — a song for which her mother appeared in the original music video. Sailor, who said she had no previous dance training, nailed the choreography and wowed everyone with her ability to learn the routine in such a short amount of time, earning herself a standing ovation from the live studio audience.

The judges, who each gave the duo of 6 out of 10, sang Sailor's praises and commended her decision to fill in for her mother. Carrie Ann Inaba told Val that he has a "goldmine" of a partner, while Bruno Tonioli told Sailor, "you have the talent, you really do. I cannot wait to see what you can achieve with proper rehearsal time."

Fans online seemed to agree, giving Sailor's performance rave reviews.

Christie, who broke two bones and had to undergo surgery where she received both a metal plate and screws, was in the audience cheering for Sailor. She joined her daughter on stage for the scoring portion of the evening and said that she is "so proud." Christie also appeared to have kept her sense of humor despite the painful accident, saying "I’m a bionic woman now!"

The highest score of the night went to Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek, who was closely followed by former Bachelorette Hannah Brown, leaving many fans thinking that they'll be the ones to beat.

The judges' scores from this evening's performance will be carried over into next week's show where the first elimination is expected to take place.
