Sarah Hyland is celebrating after her first televised singing performance at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday and is getting praised for not hiding her “KUPA” under a pair of Spanx.

The Modern Family actress took to her Instagram on Monday to thank her fans for supporting her after admitting that she was “terrified” before taking the stage with Jordan McGraw, Dr. Phil’s 33-year-old son and a current opening act for the Jonas Brothers’ “Happiness Begins” tour. But beyond sharing her appreciation for the “PHENOMENAL crowd” that was watching her performance, Hyland also gave a shoutout to herself for embracing her body and ditching her usual shapewear.

“And a final thank you to my ever changing self confidence for making the decision to not wear spanx and let my KUPA (kidney upper p**** area) shine like the bad*** b**** she is,” Hyland wrote alongside the photo she posted of McGraw and herself.

The 28-year-old drew criticism back in February after telling followers that she had worn two pairs of shapewear to the Vanity Fair Oscars party. However, she quickly clarified that she wears the Spanx to hide a bump that’s resulted from having two kidney transplants.

Now, after Hyland embraced that bump on the Teen Choice Awards stage, friends and fans are thanking her for being so real.

“Yep. Everything about you is badass,” one friend wrote, while another said, “We stan a kupa!”

Some even expressed that they are better able to deal with their own health issues as a result of watching Hyland overcome hers.

“I have a kupa myself from kidney surgery, this just gives me all the more confidence to rock mine!” someone commented. Another wrote, “As someone with [endometriosis] I wanted to thank you for making the decision not to wear Spanx and be proud of your body. Phenomenal job advocating, singing, and being a f****** bad***!!!”

Hyland’s fiancé, Wells Adams, took to his own Instagram to applaud his future wife.

“I’m constantly in awe of my fiancée,” he wrote, “and yes, I know, she’s way out of my league.”
